Can't say that is have noticed a difference here things going pretty much normal.

By caspertg on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 - 11:01 am:

Yes, I have to hear about it every day, that’s painful!

By moose151515 on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 - 11:04 am:

Not a problem for me! I hope that they eliminate all the non essential federal employees, lol.

By 3milehigh on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 - 11:07 am:

Why are the ones that cause this disruption get paid for not doing their jobs? Maybe if they weren’t getting paid, they’d get done. How do we change this?

By shortkakes60 on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 - 11:12 am:

It's starting to affect-- I notice higher grocery and other household items.

It's also affecting my work as as of today we have been told cannot approved SNAP/Food support benefits for new applications(we've been getting a lot of new applications with the higher food costs) and for November reviews cannot approved and clients may not get the November benefits who did not have a review(active cases).
All depends when/if the Federal shutdown ends or not.
Families/individuals not getting the SNAP help will be turning more to food shelves for the help but even those have (temporary) lost funding and will be hurting to keep supplies up.

By openme on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 - 11:57 am:

hey short Just why would the shutdown make food cost go up? The food here in Iowa hasn't gone up that I can see. Gas is going down here 2.359 for 15% 2.399 for the 10% mix. That is down almost .50 cents this mo. When gas goes up or down so does the cost of food and everything. Are you in a blue state like Ill everything in ill is going up, but they have all them illegals to feed from the tax prayers money!!
Me I don't care about SNAP/food support the democrats didn't care about them people why should the rest of us worry about them

As long as all you sexy ladies can post your lovely selves on here. I’m good But Kakes has a point.

By smokeyd on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 - 12:30 pm:

Yes shortkakes has a point because we know Republicans are gonna starve the elderly, poor and children. They're gonna stop Medicare and Medicare. They're gonna ban free speech and kill little puppies.
And we all know the mid-east hostage return was actually started by Obama and Biden. Trump didn't have anything to do with it.

Just as the Democrats / liberals have been telling us for decades.

By ecguy12 on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 - 12:40 pm:

Smoke just like Dems trying to take credit for anything that goes right

By doctortits2 on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 - 1:06 pm:

Well, reports say Hamas is dragging its feet in returning remains....I blame Obama and Biden..

I was in Cancun from last Wednesday until this Monday and customs, TSA and the flights were all better experiences than usual ! I have not noticed anything different, but than again, I don’t use any government hand outs or services .

By mistified on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 - 2:45 pm:

It's been shut down and hijacked in California for decades. It effects everything. And anything the real government says to fix anything the bad fake king takes another 50 million from our taxes to drag it out in court even though they won't win.

We enjoyed for a long time, highest taxes, most crime, highest energy and gas,ect,ect..

Can't wait for Trump to fix California

By hotwifecpl1965 on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 - 2:54 pm:

Is the fake king, Newscum ?

By mistified on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 - 3:02 pm:

Yes

By toylovingcpl on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 - 4:25 pm:

It's affecting our family. My son in law works for the VA processing veteran claims. He's required to work but not being paid.

By hotwifecpl1965 on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 - 5:39 pm:

4:25, hopefully he put away at least 2 months of savings to weather the storm ! He will get paid eventually. I do hope it doesn’t last too much longer than that .

By alabamabert on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 - 9:33 pm:

they're still taking my tas money!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By buckeyeswingers on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 - 10:43 pm:

Honestly it's affecting my business. I'm in manufacturing/packaging food and beverage products and the lack of required FDA approvals has many projects at a standstill. Disrupts the whole supply chain and there will be 2020 style issues very soon. There's talks of layoffs if not resolved by the end of the week.

And yes they are still taking my tax dollars as well.

Loving the cheap gas though. Guessing there's a supply surplus with the federal govt greatly reducing their usage.

By mistified on Thursday, October 16, 2025 - 12:43 am:

5 a gallon in California.

Maybe you should call Chuck and ask him without fda how you can sell your items or get avocados and coronas.

By mistified on Thursday, October 16, 2025 - 12:44 am:

Gosh,,,no more LA Mas Fina pisswater hu

By cowtownnomad1 on Thursday, October 16, 2025 - 3:07 am:

I forgot they were shut down. Maybe we don't need them afterall.

By sugartitsme on Thursday, October 16, 2025 - 6:29 am:

Toylovingcpl, same here. In our family we have 2 that are required to work and not being paid as they are essential employees.

By pmbrad on Thursday, October 16, 2025 - 8:02 am:

Nobody I know talks about it. It hasn't had any effect on me or my familt.

By luckybastard on Thursday, October 16, 2025 - 1:29 pm:

everyone loves to hate on federal employees, but if they actually knew how important they were behind the scenes you would be kinder. Anyone can point to an extremely odd example of a federal job that seems nonsensical, but most (outside of DC especially) are really performing important,, if not vital, tasks.

By bcva on Thursday, October 16, 2025 - 2:49 pm:

I have worked through government shutdowns both in the military and as federal employee in a essential position. Used savings and credit so made it threw. So Democrat keep not doing your job.

By sugartitsme on Thursday, October 16, 2025 - 4:02 pm:

Lucky bastard, you are totally correct and thank you.

By m4cplwpb on Thursday, October 16, 2025 - 5:34 pm:

Hasn't affected or effected my life so far. Wish they would make a rule and vote that nobody in Congress or Senate gets a paycheck on day one if they shut the government down. People need to vote these idiots out ASAP and start locking a few of these anti American politicians that laugh in our faces everyday with these crazy demands for funding.

If we had term limits Nancy and Chuck would be long gone. We need term limits on all seats.

By mdtdybare on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 - 11:39 am:

So it turns out contractors with ongoing contracts are continuing to work right next to the feds who are not.

One would guess about 30-50% of the federal workforce is made up of contractors.
