I can’t get over how naive some people are. We have people who believe we’re letting Qatar build an airbase in Idaho. Completely wrong!
They’re building a facility on Mountain Home AFB (an airbase owned by the USAF)!
They bought F15s from us (just like other nations have and will do again). In the purchase, the contract includes training packages for the pilots and ground crews. They (Qatar) have a training squadron stationed there to facilitate the training. They need a facility to train and work on their birds. This is a normal thing that we’ve done with Allie’s forever. I believe Singapore has been there, doing the same thing for about 15 years. The Dutch and Brits have also trained there.
It’s not at all the disaster the libs are painting it as!

Quatar is paying for the air base, and owned by the USA Air Force then paying the USA to train them to use the planes they are purchasing from us. After training the site will not be used by Quatar

Nazpete1 youre spot on. They aren't building an air base, they are adding buildings to Mt home AFB (which if youve been there it looks a lot like the desert of Qatar).

We have been training foreign pilots at MHAFB for decades and its part of our military sales deals to train them.

We use to train Saudi and Egypt soldiers at Ft Knox armor school when we sold the tanks. Also trained them in tank combat tactics

It has been common for decades to train foreigners on US bases after they buy US HW.
