Filled up my truck this morning with regular unleaded for $2.24 a gallon and we had a cool front move in that lowered the humidity, it’s quite windy and only the second time this October that we won’t hit 90 degrees, woohoo!

Michigan changed its gas tax starting Oct 1. Gone is the a fixed state tax and the 6% sales tax. It is replaced by a fixed 51 cent/ gal fixed tax whjch increases annually based on inflation. Done by legislature not votets...

At 3.50/gal it results in approx 4 cent increase. At 2.50/ gal its a 10 cent increase.

Not publicized very well... money supposed to go into a roads fund whereas 6% tax went into general fund...

Wait for a sales tax increase proposrd next..

Gas cyrrentlybetween 3.19 and 2.59 depending where you get it. Zip code pricing in mof affluent areas.

There are places in California, that you drive across vast oilfields, only to pay highest in nation when you find a station in a oil town. You can enjoy such bs to if you vote democrat for Newsom.

Misty. Have a day off

By mistified on Sunday, October 19, 2025 - 4:16 pm:

Rob,I have to go to that small oil town today. The remote and farmers and ranchers don't get days off. Even though my teams could cover, I don't take days off unless I go looking for gold.

I wish it would stay down but around here we get unexpected hikes overnight for no apparent reason (that I know of). From the looks of things on this post we might have some of the lowest prices in the US here in Texas. Today felt great and families were outside enjoying the cooler day.

Any price under 3 bucks looks good to me...

By caspertg on Sunday, October 19, 2025 - 5:10 pm:

Same here and when it spikes the highest it’s gone in a very long time is $2.99 before it trickles down but $2.24 is the lowest it’s been in years, love it that low. Good thing is I don’t drive far on a daily basis so it lasts a long time and when it drops I top it off.

$2.49 Myrtle Beach

By dirtyred50 on Sunday, October 19, 2025 - 9:37 pm:

Oklahoma City. $2.28 at Sam's Club.

$2.48 here in the cornfields of Illinois. And we have just about the highest gas tax in the country.

Plus after the Prickster doubled our tax the voter’s implemented a lockbox. Tax for road and transportation. The lead Prick in Illinois has now transferred over $300 million to the general fund.

I wis Illinois didn’t have a King.

Fuel prices across the nation vary state to state. Here in CA they are always higher than any other state (ex HI and Ak). Diesel fuel is always higher than gasoline. Average for Diesel in SoCal varies from $4.99 to $5.40/ GALLON! Yes, I drive a Diesel. In my excursions across CA I think that Corning CA is the highest I've seen. I guess this is why we are known as the "LEFT COAST"

Most of the time when I get gas I couldn't tell you the price,I just fill my tank& go...I'm not going to shop around for a few cents cheaper....

By caspertg on Monday, October 20, 2025 - 10:18 am:

I use the gas buddy app to find the least expensive close to my house, usually Walmart Murphy is the least expensive.

By mdtdybare on Monday, October 20, 2025 - 2:59 pm:

rigr.. you unrepentant fascist... who pays for illegal aliens healthcare??
Here in the US, citizens must pay for illegal aliens, or else we shut down government and citizens pay for that.

By mistified on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 - 1:08 am:

Found gas today in California. 429, 589 just a mile and a half away. This is the least expensive gas I have seen in California for decades.
