I gave too much info once and was recognized by a guy in our small Texas town, thankfully he didn’t say anything.

Always use a false name, a dedicated email address, be vague about region, never give birth or wedding info etc - unless you want to be found or exposed.
Real names can lead to social media accounts. Be careful.
Ancestry type sites don't just contain outdated info...and beware of reverse image searches.
I don't use the info I find except to thrill and I always warn contacts that they are easy to find, and I have found a few...

It's strange sometimes, also scary, exciting, and dangerous. I met a woman from a Yahoo chat room, when they still had them. She was from the same town as me, her son and my youngest son were friends, but I didn't really know her, but we did talk more and became friends, and also Lovers as well. what started as small talk turned into a 6 plus year love affair. until her passing from cancer. I think about her all the time, and still miss her very much.
