I just heard on the news if the Dems don’t open the Government by Helloween there may not be any food stamps. What do you think that will do to the remainder of their base?

By hotwifecpl1965 on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 - 9:51 pm:

Is food stamps a derogatory term ? SNAP sounds more humane ?

By rachelusa24 on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 - 10:07 pm:

They'll get their talking points from above and blame Trump. Damn sheep.

By mistaflyer52 on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 - 10:59 pm:

There will be riots and looting by their constituent voting base!! You know, the party of the peaceful protesters.

By rachelusa24 on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 - 11:09 pm:

If you want to see it that way that's your prerogative tex. One thing we can agree on is that hotwifecpl1965 (John) definitely has a HOT, SeXY Lady! :-)

All it would take is for Mike Johnson(speaker of the house) to call all the Republicans back to DC and agree to not remove the subsidies that help everyone that gets Healthcare coverage, especially with the ACA and Medicare advantage plans to keep the costs down.
fyi: the Democratic legislators are in DC ready to get to work.. including the new Arizona congresswoman that Johnson refused to swear into office.

By lmb on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 - 3:44 am:

Ya Dems ready to work for the people. That is hilarious, one big joke.

By bcva on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 - 5:16 am:

Not sure who is right or wrong but there is one thing I do know if ACA was so great it would NOT need subsidies to work.

By dcolusguy98 on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 - 5:19 am:

Figure Tex and kakes two suck off the tit of the American taxpayers. Why should the rest of us have to subsidize health care for people who choose not to work or poor planners when it comes to retirement? Fuck the free loading left

By andropa on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 - 6:12 am:

This is a two way street and the Republicans have the majority in both chambers

By tru2life02 on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 - 6:28 am:

The ACA/Obama care has subsidies BAKED in..i.e PERMANENT subsidies...Low IQ Dems are doing what they do best..they are INTENTIONALLY obfuscating the issue claiming Republicans want to remove subsidies...the SAME way they use the word MIGRANTs instead of ILLEGAL Migrants when discussing immigration...the issue with the ACA..is the ENHANCED subsidies...which were added SPECIFICALLY because we had an EMERGENCY aka COVID PANDEMIC..the ENHANCED subsidies were supposed to be TEMPORARY and are set to EXPIRE...but in true PREDICTABLE Democratic Party fashion..they NEVER let a CRISIS go to WASTE..they want to take something designed for a SPECIFIC issue/ EMERGENCY..and make it PERMANENT....then rant and foam at the mouth and throw tantrums..shutting everything down to get their way smh.

By brucea06 on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 - 6:38 am:

tru2life02, you have it 100% right!

By friendlymwm on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 - 8:42 am:

This The Republicans only lost 1 vote. The problem is they are not meeting the spread that they have to meet to win. Even if every republican was to vote they would still need 7 more votes. There is 53 republicans and it will take 7 Dems to pass the bill. Da who is keeping the Government closed down????

By rat_patrol on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 - 9:19 am:

I hope to never need ACA/obamacare again. Because there’s nothing affordable about it.

By nowfkme on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 - 10:45 am:

tex............Go away. No one cares about your unrealistic comments. All just bull$hit.

By andiamo469 on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 - 10:45 am:

All it would take is for Chuck Schumer(Senate minority leader) to call all the Democrats back to DC and agree to not hold the country hostage with extortion.

Fixed it for ya Kakes

Real world experience. Our portfolio of companies are going out for annual insurance renewals as it's that time of year.

Every one of the companies is getting crushed with premium increases. This is a direct result of policy changes recently passed by Congress. This will impact all Americans and not just those covered through the ACA. Buckle up.

By samandkim2020 on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 - 11:44 am:

@bak4mor,

We are an employer, health insurance rates have been ridiculous since the ACA

Last I checked, I think the rate we pay for our employees has gone up 600% since Obamcare, the ACA has never been affordable, the ACA is a failure.

The ACA was supposed to drive down rates by creating competition, it has not done that.

The ACA is a tax on middle classes health insurance but most do not see the full impact because their employers absorb a lot of it.

Extending the temporary COVID era subsidies one year has been offered but now Dems want them permanent even though they voted twice to make them temporary.

John Fetterman said this about the temporary subsidies when speaking to reporters in October 2025, Fetterman called out his own party's tactics, stating,

"Democrats designed them to expire this year. We passed these things when we were in the majority".

The practical thing is a once year extension and then both sides need to discuss why the ACA is not working and what can be done to fix it, repealing is never gone to happen.

Dems need to admit the ACA is a failure.

The biggest issue is Dems refuse to work with Republicans because Repubs are racist fascist Nazis cult members who support a rapist felon.

The problem with all the name calling is it alienates those they have to work with to make it all work.

Simply being the ruling party and forcing the other side to accept your rule is the worst plan ever and how we ended up with the ACA.

As usual, the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

The funniest part, Dems turned down a one year extension but with the government being closed, the cutoff for setting rates will come and go, and it will be too late to extend the temporary subsidies which tells me it is not about the poor people that need help, it is about using the issue for political gain.

I firmly believe we need to provide health insurance options for poor people but at the same time, provide them with ways to lift themselves up.

Problem is we have a lot of lazy people, people with no drive, and people that do not want to put in the time to achieve.

Maybe a good option is some federally funded clinics, like the Care Nows but clinics just for poor people, income based, you have to sign up in advance, we have a similar program in my area and it works, just needs more funding.

I am not on here as much as most of you guys because I am a go getter, I am driven to succeed, that funds my social life, my travel, my lifestyle, etc. This leaves little time for complaining online.

I can spent 8 to 12 hours a week on here arguing politics or I can close another deal and pocket 35k to 50k extra this year, I choose money :-) and I pay taxes on that but according to Dems, I am just "lucky".

Someone that is on here 7 days a week crying about how he is a victim, he posted this the other day

"My wife and I make less than $40,000.00, we have to pay $10,200 a year ($850.00 a month)."

I would say someone like that needs to get the fuck off WF and go do better in life so he doesn't need Trump to fund his health insurance.

Highly successful people do not spend 7 days a week online complaining about politician taking away their free stuff.

Get out there and get yours, make a way for yourself and stop blaming others for your shortcomings.

I am Hispanic, grew up poor, I am old so I grew up when racism was very mainstream, I have had my civil rights violated by bad cops, I was once targeted by a crooked DA, but I have done ok, I have never been anyone's victim.

Crying on here everyday about a president keeping you from being successful, that is a cop out.

I have to get back to work, you guys have a great day!

PS: And this shutdown, it will hold up a 6 figure payment to us for October, if it runs past November 11h, that will hold up a 6 figure payment to us for November, so yes, this is impacting us in a big way, if I get time, I will try to get on here and cry about it every morning. LOL, no I won't :-)

Right now, Senator Jeff Merkley of Oregon is in the middle of a marathon filibuster on the Senate floor. He began speaking at 6:21 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, October 21, and as of Wednesday afternoon, he’s passed the 19-hour mark.

He’s using the filibuster to delay a Senate vote on a House-passed funding bill to reopen the government. But the Demos say Merkley’s speech is also a symbolic alarm bell, warning that Trump’s policies are eroding constitutional norms and consolidating power in ways he believes are dangerous.

Going after Cory Booker's Bullsh*t record, is what I see....watch out Cory, white boy taking you down... ..lol

In California lots of people won't work full-time just so they get free insurance. After the democrats ran union fucked up my insurance, its tempting to reduce at this age. However I don't think I could afford to reduce that much with Newsom inflation. The democrats give insurance to illegal and bums in California, but fucked the American working class. I am in Dr offices and hospitals all the time. We are mostly the only English speaking white people there.

By mistified on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 - 3:06 pm:

Open by Halloween? Everyday is Halloween for liberals and democrats. Modern day freaks mostly the way they dress. Maybe they do it on purpose just to be unemployable.

By bak4mor on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 - 5:48 pm:

I don't think anyone is claiming the ACA is some amazing answer to our Healthcare crises, but the ACA isn't the reason Healthcare costs have escalated.

I would add, as I have said before, what are the plans to fix it?

Republicans certainly have offered zero solutions, and blaming lazy poor people is off base because they also aren't the reason for the escalation of premiums.

The current problem is, the recent changes are certainly going to make matters worse with again no solutions being proposed.
