THE WAY TO AVOID THIS TYPE OF CRAP IN THE FUTURE IS TO HAVE AT LEAST 75 REPUBLICANS IN THE SENATE!!!!!!!
AND 500 REPS IN THE HOUSE…….
LETS MAKE THAT HAPPEN.

Just curious how it’s the Dem’s fault when the Republicans have the controlling population of both the House and Senate.
It’s always easier to pass blame when the problem is within… classic denial tactic of distract and deflect.
Just saying

I want the filllibusret rule says there is no control of the senate. Unless you have 60 votes. So no control either way. At this time.

Re member how the Dems always complained about the republicans gerrymandered through the years? I do. Just check the districts in most all the heavy blue states and get back to me.
hey iwant2, civics not your thing huh? It takes 60 votes to pass the CR, GOP only has 53, and they all have voted for the CR.

Iwant, I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you so I'll type slow for you.
Senate Democrats on Tuesday voted for the 13th time to block a House-passed measure to fund the government through Nov. 21 failed by a 54-45 vote. It needed 60 votes to advance.
Only three members of the Democratic caucus voted to advance the bill.
This is the same continuing resolution passed by Democrats 13 times during the Biden presidency.

Beach, I totally agree with you! Two people in my family are affected and have to work with no pay. I am currently supporting two households on my pension. We are working people who have been very happy to earn our pay, but we do like to get PAID! I want and diver, go to hell.

I am a bit confused on exactly how it’s the Democrats fault based on a vote count since the Republicans have the controlling majority?
The House of Representatives is;
219-Republicans
213-Democrats
3-vacancies
The Senate has;
53- Republicans
45-Democrats
2-Independents
Then how is it possible to blame anything on the Democrats when they clearly have the controlling majority of the votes?
They should be able to pass anything and everything they want since they have the controlling population of both the House and Senate.

couple and andi, Either iwant2 is ignorant (chooses to ignore), a brainwashed "Democrat" or a paid operative. Take your pick.
Of course texasnoble has to spout his usual leftist Idiocy.
Maybe " iwant2tryt" is not from the US and does not know how our system works.
Because I can't imagine anyone born and educated here not knowing you need 60 votes to overcome the filibuster.

Just make sure to vote no on 50 if in California. 50 will give all the power back to the democrats to redistricting and then will take more seats to create a super majority spreading way past California. Lol.
What is amazing, not really, is that all the commercials in support of a si yes vote, are in Spanish. Its is its own country in California.
The other half of California will not like the new laws coming in January and will be leaving for Texas soon I am thinking. There is a reason the doors were left open at the border and now the democrats are working to cash in on it. California has not been part of America for a long time now and is is ready to expand now.

The demos say healthcare premiums are going to increase...I don't hear the insurance companies saying they will give anyone a break on premiums ...They are not suffering, They want their dollar ....
We are told the government remains closed... But the office that cuts the checks for Congress is open and they are not about to miss any meals..

iwant2tryt Is a bot that will continually regurgitate the same misinformation. The bot is not even listening to our responses. And to the other genius that is talking about the house not being in session. The house does not need to be in session. This continuing resolution needs to be passed in the Senate. The Senate has brought it to a vote 13× and 13 times the Democrats voted against it.
Also, and again, the genius that is talking about the Republicans getting paid, yes they are. We know that. The point is, they passed the continuing resolution in the house. Every Republican senator is voting to pass the continuing resolution. It is the Democrats that are wealthy and still getting paid that are causing pain and suffering on millions of hard-working Americans because they refuse to pass a simple CLEAN CR.
@texasnoble66,
Dems do not have to vote for a clean CR that was bipartisan in the house, they can and have shut down the government, at least you understand it is the Dems voting to not pay the workers and feed the kids.
We had an election, Trump received the majority of votes in the majority of states, he won, his voters get to decide the current agenda.
Dems have voted 13 times previously for this same type CR but this is about Schumer trying to not get primaried.
Dems are in the minority because the voters did not want them making the decisions anymore, Dems are going against the will of the people, Dems are a threat to our democratic way by using blackmail.
These are your choices, you have no other choices, you are currently choosing choice #1.
#1. Vote to
A. Starve children, literally make them go hungry
B. cause 1.3 million military personnel to miss their payments, to forego medical treatments, damage their credit due to missed payments, maybe miss meals if they have no savings.
C. Cause 2.3 million federal civilian employees to miss their payments, forego medical treatments, damage their credit due to missed payments, maybe miss meals if they have no savings.
D. Cause financial strain on small businesses not getting paid which results on the company laying people off.
#2 Vote to
A. Fund SNAP and feed the kids
B. Pay 1.3 million military personnel
C. Pay 2.3 million federal civilian employees
D. Vote to pay businesses for federal contracts
E. Extend the temporary COVID era ACA subsidies one year
This is it, you can justify the Dems shutting things down over whatever but the reality of it is Dems are choosing to not feed the kids, not pay the military, not pay essential personnel.
Soon Trump will get authority to fire people and all those fired right before Christmas will be the fault of the Dems
There is no amount of time that will make Trump voters want to refund the Dems pet projects or make the temporary Covid era subsidies permanent.
Taxpayer funded subsidies do not make the failed Obamacare more affordable.
They literally subsidize the Insurance companies rising rates by taking money from people like me that also pay through the nose for their private health insurance.
Obamacare is a tax on my health insurance and now you want me to pay even more in perpetuity because the ACA has caused rates to skyrocket.
Do a one year extension on the temporary COIVD era subsidies and work on an affordable alternative.
I am not OK with these COVID era subsidies going to people making 4 and 8 times the poverty level.
These temp subsidies are on top of already ridiculous subsidies, do you have any idea how much taxpayers are paying for these Obamacare insurance plans.
If you want to keep crying about McCain blocking the repeal of the ACA, go ahead but all that complaining does not help the poor and working poor.
Stop calling the Republicans Nazis and fascists and work with them.

Trouble is, half of Americans have been conditioned for 40 years to believe we're overtaxed.
We want our Social Security checks, and we want Medicare to pay our hospital and doctor bills when we're old.
We want seaports, airport, highways and railroads to be efficient and modern, to move goods in, out & around the country.
We want business contracts to be upheld, intellectual property rights to be protected, corruption to be rooted out when it shows up, and we want investigators and police and judges to be paid well-enough so they won't take bribes, to do all of that work properly.
We want criminals to be arrested, district attorneys to prosecute them, prisons to hold them when they're convicted, and a court system that is careful enough so that they mostly get the bad guys, and not the good guys by accident. We want schools to educate our kids at least well-enough so that they won't become the aforementioned criminals, most of the time. We staff those schools with teachers who get paid barely better than McDonald's workers, and yet we trust 'em with our kids and expect 'em to show up anyways and teach, and amazingly, they do, at least most of 'em.
We want safe medicines in our pharmacies and safe cuts of steak in our grocery stores, so that means we want people to do the testing and the inspecting. We don't want companies dumping poison into rivers and groundwater, so we want somebody to enforce the regulations against them when they do, before too many people get sick or dead when it happens. We want air traffic controllers to make sure our planes take off and land wheel-side down, almost every damn time, without crashing into one another while airborne. When we have a question or a problem with getting our Social Security checks or figuring out a tax-filing question, we get pissed off if we have to wait half an hour in the phone for a real person at the Social Security Administration or the IRS to come on the line to take our call.
We want the biggest, baddest military that has ever existed, so that our companies and our people never need to worry about getting bombed by foreign planes or invaded by hostile armed forces. (And brother, if you've never sailed with an aircraft carrier task force, let me tell ya, you've never truly SEEN what "big government" really looks like.) We want those forces to be fully supplied & equipped, trained and in constant readiness, here at home, and at bases overseas so that we can kick asses that need kicked before they ever get close enough to cause us trouble.
We expect to have embassies in every country to protect our country's interests, to protect our citizens there in case of emergencies, and to head off conflicts as best they can so that our military doesn't need to be placed into harm's way where we can avoid it. We want diplomats and experts smart enough to help our leaders to negotiate smart trade deals so that our manufacturers aren't discriminated against. We want our farmers to get bailed out when there are droughts. Whether it's wildfires in Montana, earthquakes in California, tornadoes in Alabama, blizzards in New England, hurricanes in Florida, floods in the Carolinas, or ice storms in Texas, we want disaster-relief teams on the ground fast, with resources and cash. When some guy walks off a flight with a cough and turns out to have Ebola, we want the instant capability to track his whereabouts, get him quarantined, warn the people he might have infected, and get people treated before they die.
We want to be able to drive to work over bridges that don't fall down, along streets where the potholes aren't deeper than the radius of our tires, in cars that won't kill us if we get into a fender-bender. If we need to fill up, we expect that the regulations governing gas stations will be 100% complied-with, so that we don't turn into a human torch when we squeeze the self-serve handle on the pump. When we get to the jobsite or the office or school or hospital where we work, we expect the electricity grid will always be up-&-running, 24/7.
It's taxes that make all that stuff possible.
We expect all of this and more -- but isn't it amazing, we don't wanna pay for ANY of it. In the United States, we have a standard of living that is mind-blowing compared to the rest of the world. What we get, in return for the taxes we pay, is actually pretty fucking amazing & incredible, compared to how it is anywhere else in the world. And the tax rates we pay are lower than in most other countries -- at least, most of the other countries that you or I would want ever want to have to live in. (I've lived and worked in 19 of them. Some of them, I wouldn't wanna live in again, and neither would you.) For all we've got, you'd think it'd cost us more in taxes than it does, if you really thought about it.
And yet, we have entire broadcast networks, and an entire political party, dedicated to convincing us that we're somehow overtaxed, and that we should pay LESS.
Take a look at who owns and funds those networks. And at who funds the millionaires in the Congress (and almost everyone of them is a millionaire, especially in the majorities). The Musks, the Bezoses, the Zuckerbergs, the Ellisons, the Kochs, the Thiels, and literally hundreds of other billionaires. They've been selling us the line that they're overtaxed, and to get us to buy into what they're selling, they've been mixing in the message that WE'RE ALL overtaxed, just as they've been mixing it in for 40 years.
And it just ain't so.
But by getting half of us to buy into their nonsense, the billionaires have finally bought the Congress they want. Now we get to FAFO.

Its to bad none of those things work anymore. They take it all for pricey homes and automobiles and leave little for the project. The homes and cost of living is so high because of democrats regulations and embezzlement Nothing gets done. If it does, it is done wrong because they cut corners or are just idiots. We are now looking at another 1,3 trillion plus interest for more lbgq chit and propaganda media overseas by the democrats for slush funds and kickback. We pay way to much, spending it overseas and are 38 trillion in debt doing it. None of the things you mentioned work really in California. The school is useless. The cops don't enforce, fireplanes are good, rest is a joke, streets are chit and done wrong..on and on...so much is embezzlement.

We could solve a lot of our nation's money problems if we just went back to the capital gains tax structure and corporate income tax structure that were in effect in 1988, at the end of Reagan's second term.
That was back before our leaders (both parties have a share of the blame) started to screw 9-5 working people so that we could kiss Wall Street & Silicon Valley investors' asses in exchange for their campaign contributions.
But if you proposed anything like that today -- to reset those tax provisions back to the way they were in '88 -- then the billionaires' party and their bought-&-paid-for TV networks would screech like stuck picks & howl that it'd be "Socialism!!!!!!" As if Reagan, Bob Dole, Jack Kemp, Strom Thurmond, Fritz Hollings, Dick Gephardt, Barry Goldwater and those guys were socialists. Think about that.
But here we are, because, y'know, those CEOs *need* their private jets and household staff and their tax-privileged stock options, and their 8-figure severance parachutes for when they get fired. Poor old Elon, he's got, what, 11 kids by 4 different women? How's the poor fella gonna make ends meet? He needs his tax cuts, doesn't he? Because he only had, y'know, a spare $288 million to scrape up to spend on political campaign brib, I mean, contributions, in the 2024 election cycle. (You can look it up.)
How about inheritance taxes? If any of you is a single man or woman lucky enough to have a rich grand-daddy who just passed away while possessing a big enough chunk of Exxon shares, then thanks to the 2017 tax cuts and the 2025 "Big, Beautiful Bill," you can inherit $15 million and not pay a single penny in federal income taxes on it. (Be married filing jointly, and you get to inherit the first $30 million tax-free!) You didn't earn it, didn't work for it -- all you had to do was sit on your ass and scrounge up enough stale Doritos from underneath your stepmom's sofa to still be breathing when grand-daddy died, and, presto, $15 to $30 million for you and nothing for the country that made your incredible good fortune possible. How about that? Elon's 11 kids can each benefit from that, and all they needed to do to "earn" it was to be a brief ache in his nutsack 9 months before they were born. This is the "merit-based" country that the Murdochs & Fox, Newsmaxx, and the Billionaires' Party is selling us: Be an ache in the right guy's nutsack, and you're upwardly mobile. But be a twitch in the balls of some guy born in the ghetto or the Rust Belt, driving a 2004 Sentra 2-door to his restaurant job, and you're SOL, my friend.
For a country that was founded on the notion that we ought not to be ruled by a privileged aristocracy based on inherited wealth, we sure seem to be doing our best to safeguard & advance the interests of an aristocracy where how high you rise depends not so much on how hard you work, how well you study, or even how moral you are, but on how well your daddy did.
Is that the best we can do, to fall back into the same-old, same-old crap we tried to escape from 250 years ago?
By andiamo469 on Thursday, October 30, 2025 - 12:59 pm:
@12.02
Why should there be any inheritance tax? That money has already been taxed. Do you have any idea how many farms and buisnesses have been lost due to inheritance taxes?
By mistified on Thursday, October 30, 2025 - 1:12 pm:
Exactly,,,inheritance tax is wrong. Otherwise we have to move everything off the farm to new land in kids name,,maybe living trust or prop 19. Just vote democrats out.
By mistified on Thursday, October 30, 2025 - 1:19 pm:
Looking for new land now in Texas. 90 percent will be moved, in kids name. Like I never existed.
