Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program

That is what SNAP is supposed to be ! Nutrition.
The number one purchase on SNAP is soda and sweets !
People on SNAP are way more likely to be overweight with terrible BMI indexes .
Only in America are the “poor “ obese in overweight ! You can but caviar on SNAP . The whole program need to change ! Nutritious food only and for a limited time only ! Not a way of life !
Please weigh in here !

Like I've been saying, if you want to find out about SNAP, TANF(family cash)/GA(single adult cash)medicaid/MA and/or ACA policies, eligibility and income/asset limits. look up the COMBINED MANUALS. easy to find them on line.

1: SNAP: has a work and training requirements(WREG): single or couples without children are eligible for only 3 months every 36 months(3/36) unless they are working at least 30 hours a week/or income is = to 30 hours/wk at Federal minimum wage--aka a person paid $10.00/hr needs to work at least 21.5 hours/week. OR be disabled or meet one of the other exemptions. New rules as of 11/01/25- for persons 60-65- they still need to meet the work requirements, in the past they were excluded as of age 60.

Families on SNAP: as of 11/1/25- household with all children 15 yrs old or older must also meet the work/training requirements before the adult was excluded until the youngest turned 18.

(Just had a meeting about the changes) so this is direct from the Federal SNAP program policy/rule changes.

As for what a person can and cannot buy with the SNAP benefits, some states are passing rules, that go into effect as of 2026, which will limiting the items that qualify with the SNAP benefits.

I do agree that SNAP benefits should be used to get healthy foods but that occasional treat(such as a birthday cake and ice cream should be allowed too).
Same with food shelves, people need to donate health foods...I've seen a lot of chips, snacks, ect donated or send $$ to your local food shelf so they can buy the items they need most.

I think snap recipients should be able to eat as shitty as the rest of all the other millions of overweight Americans.

Kakes,,,none of that matters in California, Newsom is its own country.

By mistified on Friday, October 31, 2025 - 12:54 pm:

What do you mean bak4,,snap eats good in California. They don't even look to see if the steak is on sale like I do. It's democrats that eat chitty. They are a constant line of electric chit cars at Mc dogballs and starfucks.

One of my sons and I used to laugh at democrats eating so bad and not knowing. We can shop mostly in two places. One is a democrat stronghold, the other Republican town. The republican town has great butcher meat markets, affordable and fresh. The democrats have mainstream market and its nasty. We would stand by someone who dressed like a lawyer while we were dressed much less. And I would say, I can't believe democrats eat this crap and don't know the difference. I feel for them. It was hilarious and I do it often..lol

Why does no see the bigger picture? Yes, people going hungry is a concern. Keep in mind SNAP contributes about $10 billion dollars a month to the grocery business. So, removing that overnight means people working in stores will start to get laid off, along with people working for suppliers. Stores will have to increase prices, thus adding to inflation to help make up for lost revenue. Unemployment will go up. This shutdown is going to have far reaching problems other than wanting to keep the increase in ACA subsides at pre-pandemic levels.

My neighbor can’t buy cat food w her snap card so she feeds her cat canned tuna fish. She does buy the store brand though.

Top three things SNAP is used to aquire: soda, chips, and ice cream. These are luxury items, not really what the program is designed for.

most of you will agree .. it should have a time limit to be on it... say 2 years...while you find a job or better yourself so you my feed n pervide for you n family...this program like others was not made to be a life long thing...wake up.. its time for change..and you should also have to give back something while drawing those benefits....nothing is for free... earn your keep...but there are some exceptions.

56% on SNAP are DEMs...and SOMALIs IRAQI and AFGHANS hold about 40% each of that 56% usage...
