In January 2023 my Health Insurance just for wife and I was $897.75 per month.
January 2024 $1081.18 per month
January 2025 $1254.96
Just got our renewal for 2026. $1848.70
Keep in mind this is just like Catastrophic insurance. We still have a $12,600 per year deductible. So quick math we have to spend $34,784 in premiums and deductible before they kick in and "help". Guess who is becoming self insured? It has MORE than doubled in 3 years. Anybody else seeing increases like these? We plan on putting about $1500 a month into a separate account and self insuring.

The Affordable care act was a fraud by democrats. That is why they never wanted any one to read it before voting on it.

By nudebeacher on Saturday, November 1, 2025 - 3:44 pm:

You put $1500/mo aside for 2 uneventful years. Wow you've got $36,000 saved.

Then a serious accident, surgery and hospitalization for a month. Bill $265,000. Now what?

That actually happened to my daughter. Fortunately, they had real insurance. Daughter recovered nicely, no lasting debt.

Just like the way hospitals have to treat illegals for no payment, if you have a catastrophic event, just pay the hospital and doctors 200 a month and they will never come after you ! Make it 500 and they will be thrilled ! That is more than what they get from illegals and undocumented !

By hotwifecpl1965 on Saturday, November 1, 2025 - 4:02 pm:

Oh, and thank Obama for your high premiums. His plan was geared to help low income earners and illegals at the cost to hardworking taxpayers with real insurance, but now sky high premiums !

By hotwifecpl1965 on Saturday, November 1, 2025 - 4:15 pm:

I also will admit here that Trump has not offered any realistic ideas to reduce the cost of insurance or medical care .

By sawatdee280 on Saturday, November 1, 2025 - 4:28 pm:

We were paying 1400 a month each, with a 10000.00 deductible before Obama care . Glad I'm on Medicare now..

By bak4mor on Saturday, November 1, 2025 - 4:53 pm:

Thanks Trump and the BBB. Republicans end the subsidies and prices skyrocket.

I'm sure I will get tons of for that comment.

My response, Trump has had a decade to come up with a better plan. Nothing. Not even a single proposal.

Google Marjorie Taylor Greene last night. She blasted Mike Johnson. She is asking for solutions and he's put nothing forward. No plan except to shift Healthcare costs onto the middle class. Yeah, the goverment cut a trillion from Medicaid and guess who's covering that trillion.

Thanks Mike and Trump!

By sugartitsme on Saturday, November 1, 2025 - 5:39 pm:

For only myself, I am paying $245 a month for Blue Cross and $185 a month for Medicare so I guess I am one of the lucky ones.

By doctortits2 on Saturday, November 1, 2025 - 5:52 pm:

Yet, If it comes to a serious health event you won't get any better care than an illegal who just walks in with his hands in his pockets...

By hangingout778 on Saturday, November 1, 2025 - 6:22 pm:

I was thinking about going with the 4PM plan.

Nudebeacher $265K could be a hangnail with these prices. Awesome to hear your daughter is doing well. But if $500 a month for life gets the job done compared to $1850... I like $500 plan for actual care.

Cancer I'm not fighting.... I smoked for 37 years and I'm not fighting it. Wife knows she has heart issues... we BOTH understand we are going to die.

I feel I am supporting illegals over the past 3 years. I think this is a sign of MANY hidden costs to citizens.

By hangingout778 on Saturday, November 1, 2025 - 6:26 pm:

BTW... thanks to all for your thoughts. I thought the idea for the thread wouldn't get but stupid / rude comments.

Even bak4mor anti DJT opinion is appreciated. I support the mentally challenged...lol

Just eliminate employer paid insurance. Isn't that welfare from a different angle?

By womenrock on Saturday, November 1, 2025 - 7:17 pm:

GFYS bak and tex-
The dems knew that the subsidies would expire and they didn't care!
They said we'll deal with it later just pass it! well here's later!!

Why should we pay!! let dems figure it out since it was there fucking stupid idea!

A little information about Emergency Medical Assistance.

1: It's for anyone without health care coverage.

2: Undocumented person count for <1% of all medicaid spending- Emergency medicaid(EMA)
They are not eligible for medicaid, ACA or Medicare. That info can be found in the Combined Manuals for medicaid/MA, ACA and Medicare eligibility requirements policy.

3: Even emergency medicaid(EMA) requires the applicant to provide their income and assets(bank accounts, ect) They have 60-90 days from the date the application is received to provide the information and often it is not so the EMA is denied. (Which means the hospital "eats" the cost.). I know this as it is part of my job to determine eligibility for the coverage and I've seen many cases denied. After the 60-90 day time period they cannot request coverage for the particular illness/injury again. I've also spoken to a lot of hospital bill department not happy to find out the application was denied.

The majority of Medicaid(MA) costs go to those(citizens and legal residents) in long term care and nursing homes.
********
Spending on Emergency Medicaid Accounted for .4% of Total Medicaid Spending in FY 2023
Total Medicaid Spending in FY 2023: $860 Billion
All Other Medicaid Spending (99.6%)
Emergency Medicaid Spending (0.4%)

Medicare Part B will be $206.50 in 2026.

By hangingout778 on Saturday, November 1, 2025 - 10:42 pm:

Tex.... settle down.

I pay my own insurance. I don't get help from the government like you. I don't have an employer. I am not rich. I'm 90% sure you make a lot more money "in pocket" than I do.

I don't live off the government like most people. IN 8 years from now.... there will be no government money for me to live off like you have.

By donorofboner on Saturday, November 1, 2025 - 11:26 pm:

Shocker! Dems over promised and under delivered yet again….

By shortkakes60 on Saturday, November 1, 2025 - 11:50 pm:

hangingout, being self-insured might save you $$ in the short run as long as you are healthy but things can change quickly.
An accident, long term illness- such as a stroke or heart attack, cancer, ect will quickly drain those funds set aside.

Keep in mind, once you are 65 you can get Medicare even not eligible for social security, you will just have to pay the Part B premium out of pocket.

By rat_patrol on Saturday, November 1, 2025 - 11:55 pm:

We spent $24k on insurance the last year before we were on Medicare. And it covered next to nothing.

By rat_patrol on Saturday, November 1, 2025 - 11:58 pm:

Texx, settle down….the time changes in a few hours.

By samandkim2020 on Sunday, November 2, 2025 - 12:16 am:

I do not have time to post the info but I looked up the costs by year, they have gone up approximately 600% between the time Obamacare was enacted and COIVD.

But when you look at the years the COVID era subsidies went into effect, they skyrocketed to offset the subsidies, almost as if to make sure the Insurance companies took full advantage of the additional federal contribution.

Coincidently, health insurance companies profits went up along with the subsidies.

I am all for a one year extension and both sides work on providing a alternative but continuing to bail out Obamacare is not fiscally sound.

A federal subsidy is just tax payer dollars, so they wat me to pay more money to get health insurance companies richer and pay for my own health insurance.

Every time the feds provide subsidies, costs go it, it is not rocket science. Loom at education, the more the fed subsidize, the higher the education costs.

We are 36 trillion in debt, at some point we have to balance our budget.

Well we turned the heater on in the pool and have guests, got to go, have fun!

Bumma bullshit as always This Country went downhill from that muslim jack ass. Idiots voted for that fuck and now this Country is paying for that Huge mistake

By clyde601958 on Sunday, November 2, 2025 - 3:15 am:

PLEASE!! Correct me if I’m wrong We get taxed to pay the $1,500,000,000 the Dems want to fund what ever they want to end the government shutdown. They say it’s for ACA. We either do that OR , we pay higher premiums . I think I would rather pay the premium raise Even the Democrats, were confused when they passed the law It wasn’t a tax before it was passed. And “ presto”. When it went before the Supreme Court , it was Funny how that happened And isn’t it funny how a “ nonpartisan “ GAO could be off so far on scoring??

By lmb on Sunday, November 2, 2025 - 6:31 am:

Get the government out of health care, get the government out of student loans. Anything the government gets involved with the cost skyrockets.
It goes up and up the only thing the government does is add cost to what ever its involved with.

By coachbill on Sunday, November 2, 2025 - 7:03 am:

We pay $1000 a month with $9k in deductibles and then it is 80/20.
The ACA charges my mother $25 100% covered and no copay or deductible.
Good friend sold his house for $1m (high for this area) retired with a pension and 401k and is charged $0 a month for insurance on the market place.
Maybe hospital and insurance companyCEO’s don’t need 10 or 20 million dollar bonus’s and could pay their employees better and reduce prices.
My last thought, I worked for a company that sold a medical product to Canada for $75 and to the US for $375. I was told the US had to cover what Canada didn’t pay

By mistaflyer52 on Sunday, November 2, 2025 - 7:19 am:

Democrats are fucking idiots! Especially the ones here. It's amazing how uninformed and gullible they are!! Wheter it comes to healthcare, economics, foreign relations, the border, illegal aliens, GOVERNMENT!!!!

They listen to their lying leaders and the MSM lie to them. They know they're being lied to but they believe the lies they're being told. They repeat the lies, like here, and prove how gullible and ignorant they really are. Wake the fuck up dumbasses!!

By hotwifecpl1965 on Sunday, November 2, 2025 - 7:31 am:

Shortcakes and others are either lying to us or are so naive. My daughter works in an OB/GYN office in southwest Florida. 80 percent of the women that come in are undocumented, uninsured and overweight. They are all guaranteed free pre natal care and hospital deliveries and newborn care. Meanwhile when she had a baby, with insurance and working doing sonography, it cost her 8000 out of pocket ! Comment on that Shortcakes !

By cherrygarage on Sunday, November 2, 2025 - 9:35 am:

I'm old enough to remember DIRECT PAY. You went to the doctor, he writes you a 'script, you PAY the receptionist. We need to get back to that. There is now a new system emerging called "Concierge Care" where you buy into a 'membership' with a doctor for preferred care. Cuts out the insurance companies and their billionaire CEOs. Also allows for 'next-day' visits, no more waiting 6 weeks to see a PA.

By shortkakes60 on Sunday, November 2, 2025 - 3:50 pm:

hotcwifecpl, check Fl medicaid assistance policies. Read the combined manual for medicaid- presumptive eligibility for pregnant women.

The presumptive eligibility medicaid figures that the baby once born is a US citizen and the coverage is to be sure the baby arrives healthy with proper prenatal care. EMA covers the labor and delivery.
Once the baby is born, Mom no longer has any health coverage but the baby can get medicaid.

Once again you can thank RONALD REAGAN for the program which became law in 1986 with the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act(OBRA).
