So the NRA national convention is in Houston in 2026 in April. Other than the convention what is there to do in and around Houston.

Volunteer to work for ICE when not in sessions. Lots of folks needing to be sent home.

April is a good time to be there, it’s before hurricane season and not too hot. Lots of things to do and see and there are some great restaurants, research it and do a planner. My son and extended family live there and I enjoy the time there. I play disc golf and have played several courses there.
What do you like to do iron? I would say you can find whatever you are into in Houston. I can vouch for the fact that there are plenty of good restaurants and strip clubs.

Take a visit to high island. It's a nude beach area. Just east of Houston. I have read that if the weather is great, so is the view.

Galveston Island is an awesome day visit. We lived in the Houston area for 2 years. NASA at Johnson Space Center is a good day visit. Astrodome, NRG Stadium plenty of sights to see. But be aware driving in Houston is "How and When". You need to know "How" to get where you're going, and "When" you can actually drive to get there.
Avoid the "Katy" Freeway. 8 lanes wide each way at 10 mph.

The nude beach is an hour away from Houston. Not too much going on out there these days.
But since this is a gun thread, Collector’s Firearms is a huge gun shop with everything you could ever want to see or buy. Check out their web page. You can literally spend hours there.
The San Jacinto Battleground and Monument would be another cool thing. It’s about 30 minutes east of Houston. It’s some cool Texas history.
Galveston is also about an hour south of Houston.

And I’d also ditto what Dirtyred said about NASA and the space center. You can spend at least half a day there.
I always refer to Houston as the armpit of Texas. I worked in the city and lived in it or too close to it all my life. Head to Galveston. Lots of stuff to do down there. The water will still be fairly cold though, but it shouldn't be crowded with tourists at that time. If you like space, NASA is a good place to visit. As with all big cities, be aware of your surroundings.

Be careful if driving in Houston, the traffic on I-10 is like Los Angeles.

You can easily use up three days at the Convention with the lectures, speeches, and events. A person can take the better part of two days in just the exhibitors hall.
I think that the Convention will be back to Atlanta in 2027. I hope to make it to that one. I missed it this year when it was here.
Stop being lazy floppychipolata and do your own research
Iron run down to the island and hit the strand area and some good seafood restaurants
