Happy BRRR Saturday Folks! A chilly day in the Twin Cities, temp +1, feels like -17, windy and sunny skies. If stay out of the wind it's not too bad out. We also have a good foot of snow on the ground.

I've been working on cleaning and re-seasoning my cast iron dutch oven/chicken fryer for the past week. It was really build up with gunk but looks almost new now. It's about 130 years old, was my grandmother's then my mom's and now I have it, someday it will be kiddo's.
I also took my car out of the garage and picked up some meds. Decided to leave it parked outside in the parking lot since tomorrow I need to go out again. It's a bit of a pain to get it in and out of the apt complex garages as they are not attached to the apts.

Supper is to be homemade cheeseburger with all the fixing on toast and cheesy tots on the side.

What's on your supper table tonight?

Evening kakes, it's 23 and going down to 5 tonight with a wind chill of -15 to -20, feel like we're in Minneapolis, LOL. Staying inside and soaking up the furnace this weekend. Can't beat those old cast iron skillets and dutch ovens.
Supper is going to be a beef roast, mashed potatoes and gravy, and green beans with toasted almond slivers, bacon and mushrooms in them.
Don't get out in that weather for long, do your best to stay warm and have a great week.

Hey Kakes haven't posted in a bit. Just got home after an overnight in Tampa celebrating our kiddos birthday. We had a blast, great food, perfect weather and good times. Had lunch at the originalColombia restaurant today then came home. Dinner tonight is shrimp cocktail and crab cakes. Love the cast iron history as I have my grandmothers old fry pan. Great memories and flavor. Have a great week.

Evening Kakes A record high today of 80 outside compared to a normal 65.
Supper is cream of broccoli soup with BBQ beef brisket, whipped sweet potatoes and green beans.

Evening Kakes. Was sunny and got to upper 40s here in East TN today but cold front coming in. Little shopping g with my daughter today. Now home relaxing.
Di ner will be Salisbury steak with gravey over butter garlic noodles.

Hey Shorty,

It's currently 23 with snow here. We are under a winter storm warning. Supposed to get 4 - 6 inches of snow before tomorrow morning. It looks like we have about tow or a little less inches of snow so far. Tomorrow is supposed to be cold with -15 wind chill.

Sunny days do take some of the edge off of the cold. They say that cast iron that is cared for is an heirloom that can be passed down for generations. Glad to hear that Kiddo is going to get a great heirloom.

Mrs hobbit found a recipe for a pizza that is made in a pie dish with a top and bottom crust. That is going to be dinner tonight.

hey kakes. had to shovel for the first time this season took grand daughters out to get our christmas tree today, they slept over last night as they don't get to sleep over as often due to circumstances! tree seems to be a waste of time as the next couple of weeks are going to be busy with out of town appointments as the wife will be getting a hip replacement just before the new years dinner tonight will be takeout pizza as we are both lazy this evening

Stay toasty warm, all "you" Southerners are not use to the cold like al of us northerners are. I agree with the cast iron cookware. Have a great week too.

More snow today and bitter cold 5 hours downriver from you. Wind chill of 25 below tonight. Sick of winter already and it hasn’t even started. Feeling lazy tonight so frozen pizza and a few beers it is .

Evening Kakes 52 now but dropping no precipitation until later tomorrow then calling for wintery mix. Supper was junk food night lil smokies wrapped in bacon veggie tray bbq meatballs and BBQ chicken bites. Heavy Hor de vors .you stay warm and safe we are definitely doing that.

Helped a friend get her tree earlier in week.
We decorated it yesterday.
First live tree I've helped with in over 60 years.

We did not follow totally follow her recipe. It came out good. My wife decided to not put the top crust on. She par baked the bottom crust, but it still stuck to the pie pan. Not sure if she needed to add some more grease in the pie pan to prevent sticking

Very cold day. house work and cleared my wife's van from snow. Let the sun do the rest.

Dinner was chicken wings with tater tots.

It's cloudy here with occasional snow showers, with temps falling it's 15 here now. I love homemade cheeseburgers. I made a big pot of beef vegetable soup.

That was my original plan for supper but re-seasoning my cast iron pot took longer than expected and it's my soup pot.
