Who failed him?

Nick Reiner began using drugs at around age 14 or 15. He entered his first drug treatment program at age 15 and ultimately went to rehab an estimated 18 times during his youth.
How could a REAL parent not see their Son stoned out of his mind?
Before it got to that point?

I was never a fan of Rob Reiner , however you do not know what you are talking about.
I have known many people that were addicted to drugs or alcohol or both.
I have known parents of children who had a problem with it .
It is almost impossible to control.
Kids are away from parents most of the time, with school, work friends a million places.
It’s not easy.
I have seen some of the best people have problem children.
You really don’t know what u are talking about.

I know many good people who were good parents and had a troubled child. The op is just trying to stir the pot in typical trumpkin nonsense. Despicable.

Another person who has no idea what they are talking about. My next door neighbor is a minister who had 4 great kids. But one got mixed up on meth. He passed away at 14. They tried everything to help him. Sometimes you do everything you can and nothing helps.
Who failed him? The odds are that Rob Riner failed him. We will never know the whole story, but Rob Reiner was very well known to be a looney liberal. His politics are about as far left as you can get.
Again, we don't really know, but the odds are Reiner brought his kids up with hard core, whacky leftist views. If he had raised his kids with discipline, taught right from wrong, taught them to be responsible, to take accountability for their actions and all the other things parents with strong conservative values teach their kids, the odds are none of this would have happened.
AGAIN, none of us know the facts or how Reiner raised his kids, but IMO, there is a very good chance that Reiner raised an entitled, idiot leftist kid and is basically the reason that he and his wife were murdered by his spoiled brat kid.

You know, every once in a while a thread starts with the obvious intent on scoring some political points and besmirch others not in their personal ideological orbit that makes me face palm myself.
This is such a one.
"who failed him" Of course it had to be his dad. Who just happened to be a well known liberal as well as a frequent critic of one President Trump.
A side note needed here. Go look for Rob Reiner's reaction to the Charlie Kirk assassination.stood up to this poster.
My gratitude to those who rightfully stood up to this poster.

Who failed the op to be such an insensitive prick. We may never know but odds are his mother.

I have a cousin. Great parents, upper middle class.
Their son had a drug/alcohol problems since he was a teen. His parents tried everything, but nothing worked.
In his 40's he got very drunk and crashed his truck. He lost part of a leg and was very messed up from the crash.
Last we heard he was living at a homeless shelter. We haven't heard anything from him in years.
If he is still with us, he will be 64 years old now.
Parents can only do so much.
nick reiner first went into drug rehab at age 14. I read that he had been in rehab something like 20 times over the years. That probably gives us the answer of why he murdered his parents. They probably cut his drug money off.
SUre there are people like Mike described. A kid brought up in a loving, conservative values home, who turns out to be a lowlife, drug addict or other undesirable person. But these people ARE the exception.
I personally liked Reiner as an actor/director. I didn't like his politics at all. He was a crazy left loon. But NOBODY deserves what happened to him and his wife. Especially at the hands of your own ungrateful kid.
They are democratic socialists therefore “the system “ failed him.

So I guess the millions of deplorable meth heads throughout flyover MAGA land country are also the fault of "democratic socialists". LOL!
The only thing that MAGAs can do consistently is blame others. No self-awareness whatsoever ...

The kids father was on the famous island multiple times.
If you bring your kids up in a city and especially connected to hollyweird you should expect weird chit.
Attempting to control another person is impossible beyond capture and bondage.
Running away to a remote lake saved us from the city kid influence crisis. We are our environment.
He failed himself ?

Damram.
.completely backwards. Deplorable hu? Please, you need a education and to grow up. Meth hu? The only tweekers I know are all democrats. Blame other and self awareness? Please you people are not even aware of what a woman is. Visit California. You will see who is to blame. Democrats control the embezzlement and disaster. Democrats have no brains to be responsible for anything. Flyover,,you bet. Wish democrats didn't fly. My air pollution would go down 90 percent.

I go to Brentwood frequently, home of ucla. The place is a total chithole. Extremely ugly and bad place.

Brentwood a chithole? WOW....Beverly Hills must be a real dump.

@1:20 am: - "I go to Brentwood frequently, home of ucla."
I believe you. Somebody has to pick up their garbage ...
By mistified on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 - 2:48 am:
Not what it used to be. A friend of mine sold a house in Beverly hills this year for that fact. He had it for 50 years. His neighbor was van Halen. Another azzhole. All of Los Angeles is bad.,that is why they keep moving here. My friend who owned that house only stayed there one week a year. Maybe you like the 405. Brentwood is dirty. All of Los Angeles has a grease residue on everything. It is horrible no matter what area. Just extremely horrible. They escape to here and love it.
By mistified on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 - 2:53 am:
How often do you go there. Yep trash everywhere and skuz. Maybe you like scuz and scum oil on every single thing. Cities are extremely dirty places.
By mistified on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 - 2:55 am:
I have to go see doctors in Brentwood and Santa Monica frequently.
By mistified on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 - 3:02 am:
Brentwood,,20 parking, Santa Monica 35 for parking or you get robbed. Lots of homeless scamers, trash, drugs, both are horrible dirty scuz and scum places. Rub your finger on anything and its a fallout of oil scuz. The air is bad as well and the people are not happy. I found a purse with over 2 grand in it. Not long ago. Yes it had a ID. I turned it in. None of the locals would have.

Gees get real, there is no such thing as a good city. If there was. They would have not moved up here by the thousands and ruined the coast clear to chitattle from Los Angeles.

I actually can't believe people actually like in cities. Suppose they don't know any better.

Cartel and people from Los Angeles always litter. We have annual beach cleanup days. Its what got plastic straws banned in California.

Call me flyover..yes it is the interstate of planes above me. All going to or coming from lax and burbank. Some San Diego and San franchitco. But they are very high. Not low and dangerous like those places. They fly very low next to those places coming and going. Who wants to live that close to a major airport. The 405 and I.5 are littered with trash and scattered plastic car parts. Really you just want to pontificate as you know nothing about Los Angeles probably or you would agree and understand.
By mistified on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 - 4:03 am:
Intothemystic..seems to understand. Hollyveird is a chithole as well. Not all that glitters is gold. And that place shatters dreams and spits them out daily. Another just horrible place.

People fail themselves is the correct answer.

We're all the best parents that ever walked on the planet. Everyone else should strive to be like us, right? My kids have turned out to be good people, Actually exemplary. Sometimes I think in spite of my (our) parenting. I did my best raising them..... or did I? It's that transitional period where the kids start to make their own decisions that trip parents up. Sometimes you have to hit the gas and sometimes hit the brakes. That's when parenting comes down to gut feeling. And sometimes we get it all wrong but don't know how to make it right when we get it wrong. I have read that drugs are just as prevalent in affluent, educated neighborhoods as in poor neighborhoods. Luckily, I (we) never had to deal with that. I take no credit and don't know how I would have dealt with it. And for the record, we were neither affluent nor poor.

mistified, damnthatriver and couplex once again show us that they're assholes on this site.
Like there's no Republicans who struggle with addiction.
C'mon fellas??
By nazpete1 on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 - 8:56 am:
The kid failed himself. At his age he knew there were consequences. I was a drunk from age 15 to age 28. I decided to quit on my own. It wasn't easy but I did it. I drank a case of beer a day most of the time. Never missed a day of work.
All it takes is determination.
Btw, you can be an alcoholic only if you attend the meetings.
By woodyd46 on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 - 9:57 am:
The key to recovery from drugs, alcohol or any self destructive behavior is for the person to admit they have a problem, then WANT to change.
Parents, teachers, friends, loved ones cannot force the desire to deal with the problem. Especially when other mental issues compound the the situation.
OMG, I can't believe it damnthatriver thinks it's about politics, unbelievable, Just un-f---ing believable. ----I had coffee `for breakfast this morning, but it was OK, it was Republican coffee so that makes it ok, Just amazing. This kind of crap is what's wrong today. Until thes is fixed, things will get worse.

I NEVER said anything about Rob Reiner or his politics. I just can not understand how a 14 year old is in rehab. That means the kid was a drug addict waaaay before in went in rehab. So I do blame the parents.

Bad parenting, indoctrination camps, school, lack of morals ,not being able to think in the first place. DNA from democrat parents. It all adds up. Every democrat I know the kids have problems. The parents are selfish and ignore the kids. They send them to college and they come back gay and on drugs. After that they lose the job due to drug charges or violence charges. Democrats really shouldn't have kids. Maybe you haven't seen the list. It is easily found. Problems at 14,,yep.bad parents. Loony liberal..bad parenting examples. Really what you see here is the lack of moral. Liberal doesn't respect self, other people, or God. What could go wrong..as a single parent for many years and only working when the child was in school until homeschool because the school was not safe ,legal or clean, it was a real focus on the kids. Democrats, especially liberal only focus on their selfish failed azzes and then wonder why it all went wrong. They take no responsibility, it is always someone else's fault, Trump and old white men. Stud is a joke,,stud or bull,,,is ignored in the world of sexxxxy but they don't realize it.
