Discussions: 100% tariffs on Canada

Just curious, how does the average American think about Trumps threat to make all imports of Canadian products to the US be charged a 100% tariff? He says he does not need Canada, ok, yet when the Canadian government goes elsewhere to sell there products, he turns and wants to penalize them. It makes no sense.

By beggin4peggin on Sunday, January 25, 2026 - 3:30 pm:

Daniel_45, haven’t you heard Trump’s insistence that it’s the other country that pays the tariffs?
Mr. Manly Man Donnie got his panties in a bunch because the Canadian prime minister was too harsh in his statement.
Sticks and stones, words only hurt the most sensitive man on the planet.

Nothing he does makes any sense. It's all about retribution and personal gain with this clown.

nnj still wants the cadaver back in office...what a fucking joke you and biden are

By daniel_45 on Sunday, January 25, 2026 - 4:07 pm:

Nobody wants Biden back in office, but there has to be someone in the US that can actually do something, give the US hope.

Trump is insane. I think we should just cut the US off and leave them to their own devices....who can trade with a nation that makes policy up on the hoof, and tries to bully its once former allies into submission. There are plenty of Republicans who disagree with this administration, and for now are keeping quiet, but just like the president himself (avoided the Vietnam draft) they are all self serving cowards. What a mess, but stop messing with other countries affairs.

Trump is deporting illegal scum bags and saying fuck you to all the countries that have fucked us over for years....what the fuck do you want

100% tariffs on Canada will stop the housing industry in its tracks. We currently import 100% of OSB used for housing from Canada.

Not even close jonahb5.....smh

By mrbobcat on Sunday, January 25, 2026 - 7:04 pm:

Sooner or later the bug businesses that import goods from Canada will have to pass the increased prices on to the consumers and when they do, Trumps suppoert will plummett

By itsmemacb on Sunday, January 25, 2026 - 7:37 pm:

I hope Trump does do the 100% Tariff . then the US will see how much they get from Canada ..... imagine your hydro bills in most of the northern states as they get about 25% of there power from Canada . where do you think a good portion of the crude oil comes from also . I say do the tariffs and let Taco explain why everything you get from Canada now costs double what t did

The tariffs will help speed up the 6 western Canadian provinces seceding from Canada, possibly joining the USA.
Sounds like a good thing.

Newscam already stopped 99 percent of building homes in California. The new,,,milage tax,,added 330,000 to any new mortgage. Only a couple, 1 or 2 has started building after the fire. Fuck democrats. Nothing works or gets done but embezzlement and crime with democrats.

By mistified on Monday, January 26, 2026 - 3:17 am:

Amazing pj, because most of Canada wants to become American because you don't have a government any more than we do in failifornia. Just tax and embezzlement as nothing works or gets done.

I see Canada on maple and windows. I never see honcho en Canada on anything else.

By harrytocco on Monday, January 26, 2026 - 5:54 am:

mistified. once again you prove your head is up Trump's ass. The only Canadians that want to become Americans are a few rednecks in Alberta. The rest of them want no part of our fascist regime. You really are oblivious to the real world. Change your news station.

By beggin4peggin on Monday, January 26, 2026 - 9:02 am:

Mistified 3:17, would you have any interest in buying a bridge in Brooklyn? Maybe some swamp land in Florida? I also know a Nigerian prince who, to make a long story short, will send you $100 million if you can just loan him $50,000 in Amazon gift cards.

By jands69 on Monday, January 26, 2026 - 11:54 am:

Trump just spewing bs to distract from the shooting and the Epstein files he is still covering up. Trump will taco on this just like tariffs on EU last week

Even if you support Trump, even if you support tariffs despite history and economic experts telling you that they do not work. It truly is cutting off your nose to spite your face.
But HOW can anyone be okay with him making major declarations solely because his feelings were hurt. After the Canada/China news broke, Trump said “That’s OK. That’s what he should be doing. I mean, it’s a good thing for him to sign a trade deal. If you can get a deal with China, you should do that,” Trump told reporters in response to a question about what he thought of Canada and China announcing a trade deal between the two countries.
*He being the Mark Carney the Canadian Prime Minister. Then a few days later, Carney made a subtle statement yet was clearly referring to the US about the shift in world relations etc....
Trump then made the 100% tariff threat. This has nothing to do with security from China. He was okay with it. But then he took some critique and soiled his diapers over it.
No matter how much you support MAGA, I truly cannot fathom how anyone can support the government being run based on his emotions on any given day. You must still want some strategic thinking behind the moves, even if you believe the end result is correct, the methodology still has to matter.

Swamp land is some of the best land in America. When everything goes wrong, those people will still be eating good. The Swamp has a abundant amount of food and resources. Love to have a few miles of Swamp for another compound.

Canada will not really suffer.
US will see results soon
Canada will reduce the shipping of oil, gas, water, power, wheat etc.
There is a significant share the US is getting from Canada.
In the US the cost will increase. Even the water supply from Canada will be reduced, which will be a great problem for the northern states.
Canada is currently negotiating with with China, Europe etc for good trading opportunities and they will be very successful. 49000 electric car will arrive from China every year in Canada while US cars will get more expensive because a lot of parts will be produced in Canada with 100 percent tax.
Seems the big deal maker is very successful.
