Dial, I can think of one good thing that Al Gore was right about. He was right to accept the results of the 2000 presidential election. In the 2000 presidential election, when votes were counted in Florida, the winner of which would give one or the other of the Republican George W Bush, or the Democrat Al Gore, the presidency, there was great confusion about the vote count and the Supreme Court got involved, and decided to effectively stop the vote count. At that point there were still vote counting that could have taken place, but the results at that point gave Bush the win. Gore accepted the results of the Supreme Court ruling and did not pursue any further legal action. In after counts, the results of those unfinished counts is several large districts did give Bush the win, with a plurality of 537 votes in Florida, however a total recount of all districts was made which would have given Gore the win. The election was settled with Bush getting 271 electoral votes, and Gore getting 266. In the final national total of votes cast, Gore won the popular vote by 543,895 votes. Gore's choice to accept the Court ruling and not pursue a total recount of the Florida vote is in sharp contrast to the actions of trump after the 2020 election.
