When you resist arrest and carry a gun, the risk of errors or nervous cops, who want to see their wife and children afterwards, regardless of your feelings, by far outweigh the idiot's analysis. Why should the cops take the risk? This is far from "peaceful protest".
Resisting arrest, while armed, clearly says you are asking to take potluck on the outcome.

The real crime is not arresting the co-conspirators and charging them with the death of Petty.

Intentions? Pretti was recording ICE. Then he was trying to help a woman who had been pushed to the ground. For trying to protect and help this woman, he was pepper sprayed, beaten and forced to the ground. He never made a move for his holstered weapon.

No one was endangered by Pretti.

He was shot in the back. Multiple (10?) times.
