Think that oral sex is safe? There are health risks. For oropharyngeal cancer, the main risk factor is the number of lifetime sexual partners, especially oral sex. Those with six or more lifetime oral-sex partners are 8.5 times more likely to develop oropharyngeal cancer than those who do not practice oral sex.

In all seriousness I am afraid that this is going to turn out to become a big problem. We know of two ladies close to us both of whom are early sixties that are recovering from oral cancer treatments. Both went to very notable cancer hospitals (not the same one) and both were told by the doctors that they only see people who are smokers have this cancer - Neither of them smoked a day in their life. Makes you wonder??

HPV (human papillomavirus) is the leading cause of oral cancers, so there is a real risk.

Gentlemen, it is not limited to BJs, risk increases from eating pussy! Most sexually active people will contract (HPV) at some point in their lifetime. Oral HPV often has no symptoms. This means that people don’t realize they have an infection and are less likely to take the steps necessary to limit the spread of the disease.

mrb thank you for the added info! And what is scary is that there is no real test for it in men. I have a son and a daughter and when it came time for the decision on our son to get the vaccine both the wife and I easily agreed to do it. It will be the same for our daughter. It is hard making these decisions for some people but if you have kids please do some research and at least consider your options....

Good intel mrb. A friend experienced HPV related cancer in the neck region which was, with certainty, diagnosed as a result of his providing oral pleasure to his GF.

I asked a medical professional about this as hearing about this risk seemed alarming to say the least. He advised the ABSOLUTE truth of it, and high frequency of the diagnosis in men - higher among single sexually active men - and the big irony.....that the origin of the prevalence of this is men transmitting HPV to women via undiagnosed venereal warts.

Guys give it to women, and they give it back. Ouch!

Prevention...vaccines if possible, HPV testing and awareness, and dental dams - i.e. cunnilingus using a saran wrap like barrier. Talk about a mood killer.

Yes, this is a growing problem. Most of us will have some form of cancer if we live long enough. I'd rather get it from a life well lived then smoking or weed killer.

didn't Michael Douglas have cancer and blamed it on performing lots of oral over the years?

I had cancer at the base of my tongue 14 years ago. HPV 16. Everything is good now.

My ex-wife accused me to giving her throat cancer.
My response (to myself): "If I could have, I would have."

My best friend just went through throat cancer that was caused by HPV. It spread to his tonsils, tongue, jaw, and esophagus. I guess if there's a silver lining to what he went through, it's that the doc said it won't come back. Well, unless....

A good friend got cancer from eating his wife’s pussy.
She was tested and she was a carrier of the cancer, but didn’t actually have cancer. My friend went through some pretty extensive surgeries as it was starting to spread. He’s been cancer free for some years now but it was touch and go for a while.
I have since heard about 6 or 8 other people who had the same thing.
