In this day and age

People keep asking why Ice and Border Patrol as well as many other law enforcement officers and military wear masks. The simple answer is that you can take a picture of anyone and with a few clicks on your cell phone you can find out who the person is. With their name you can find their address, phone number, who their spouse are, who their children ,parents, brother and sisters and where they all live. All of that information plus much more is easily available on the world wide web.
The world is full of crazy people. If someone can get the address of a congressman or women can be found and a crazy person goes to their home and shoots them dead don't you think law enforcement officers should be able to conceal their identity to protect themselves and family?

Alan - you need to answer this question. Why do local law enforcement and state police not wear masks?

They deal with more crime and more serious crime than border patrol and ICE

So I respectfully will acknowledge that while what you are saying is not incorrect, then why don't all levels of law enforcement feel a need to wear a mask?
An officer of the local police department in a major US city likely interacts with more actual criminals on a daily basis DURING actual crimes than ICE agents, who mostly go through dozens of non-threatening individuals before they find anyone even remotely questionable.
State police aren't masked, FBI..... not even DEA, who I would argue are the most at risk of retribution from cartels, gangs and the like.
Masked law enforcement also creates a mistrust among citizens, it becomes somewhat of a self fulfilling prophecy of distrust when the person enforcing the law is literally hiding behind a mask and not providing any identification.
I would opine that any threats would be greatly reduced if citizens didn't have this distrust that comes from the masks and no ID.
This isn't solely my opinion, I have heard and read this criticism from law enforcement strategists and heads.
I am open to considering a counter to this, so long as it is articulated properly and equally open-minded, but I expect most who agree with you will just come in with the same insults and slurs rather than an intellectual debate.

Perhaps it's because LEO's are facing one to three criminals at a time where ICE agents are facing angry mobs. Many who are illegal with nothing to lose.

@texascplforcpl, "angry mobs" are not necessarily criminal in and of itself. Protesting and anger kind of go hand in hand, hence the protest to begin with.
Police typically are alone or with one partner responding to most crimes. ICE work in teams of 6+ in more traffic stops to question people.

If wearing the mask saves one family from the bullshit of the paid, organized and trained protesters then I support the mask completely. I also support shoot now, ask questions later. Our forefathers would have started shooting months ago. The time may soon be here.

Having worked with all levels of law enforcement I can assure you that undercover officers wear masks when serving search and arrest warrants..Big cities more so than small towns. Most small towns everyone knows who the officers are so they don't have undercover officers.
Ask yourself this question. Would you be willing to enforce federal immigration law and face angry mobs if you could not concel your identity. I think it is funny that the ones bitching about Ice wearing masks don't have the balls to go do what these men and women do every day to protect your right to go out and protest and show how ignorant your are while blowing your toy whistle.

There are plenty of law enforcement officials who are critical of ICE’s tactics, including those who came out and vehemently stated that the way they handled both Renee Good and Alex Pretti situations were not only an abuse of enforcement tactics, but a complete violation of training and a danger to fellow officers and innocent bystanders, especially in the case of shooting at a fleeing vehicle.
It’s funny how MAGAs are so quick to dismiss the opinions of those who aren’t ICE agents (‘don’t question the ones who do this for a living’) yet feel more than comfortable dismissing the scientists who push for vaccines and warn against climate change.

I had a close friend working as an Assistant District Attorney. She was of Hispanic origin, spoke fluent Spanish and was assigned as the gang prosecutor. She was very successful and one night her house was shot up by one of the gangs she was prosecuting.
She and her husband had to move to a highly secure gated community.

But, always a great big but, many local and state task forces that deal with dangerous gangs and domestic terrorists types, they do wear masks and conceal their identities to protect them and their families form the people they are investigating or pursing.

The masks area result of unhinged white privileged liberals attacking them and their families, we saw this when they stormed the church where an ICE employee was a pastor.

The real question is why do you give a phuck, how would your life change if they had no masks and you knew who they were.

A question for you - Why do you think most, not all of the protestors are white? Where are your legal immigrant brown people? They aren't there because they would be gathered up/ hassled by ICE.
