Alberta, British Columbia and few other provinces could break away from Canada? And form as separate country?

There's a much better chance that Minnesota joins Canada or that California, Oregon and Washington split into their own country than there is of Alberta ever separating from Canada. Not gonna happen! EVER!
There are a few thousand malcontents who are making a lot of noise and like anything else the loudest and wackiest always get the media attention. And they obviously don't realize that it is virtually legally impossible for Alberta to separate due to five ironclad treaties that were signed with the First Nations when Alberta first joined Confederation in 1905.
So don't bet your house on it ...
EVERY TRETIES can be CHANGE with NEW Country separation !!!! COMMUNIST in former SOVIET communist
system was "BROKEN " and communist could NOT STOP IT !!
alberta will seperate, the rest wish they could also, the people denying this will happen are those that work for the east, aka china

Give California, Oregon, Washington, Minnesota, and New York to Canada in exchange for Alberta.

Failifornia is already its own country and has been for a long time. No kings, king newscam isn't doing anything good. Milage tax , 400 new laws this year. Who knows how much embezzlement...

Anyone who hasn't known commifornia is its own country for a long time now isn't very well informed.
Listening to media outlets from Mexico there is a popular movement there saying they want California back...!!
where the divide could occur is along the English speaking Canada and the French speaking Canada.
But if that was going to happen, it would have happened a long time ago.

| By mistified on Sunday, February 1, 2026 - 11:32 pm: |
I have heard Mexico wants it back. However they already have half or more of it .

Alberta seems to be a ice berg, seems hard to deal with. Feel for people in the ice. 80 today in California. Wildflowers everywhere. Was mowing all day.

I'm a Canadian in my 60's and I have never seen Canada more united than it is now. The Alberta separatists have been around since the 70's and 80's and is basically just a fringe movement. It's getting more attention again these days, but will fade away. You are being misled by your media, if you think Alberta will leave Canada. In fact Canada is leaving the USA after 80 years of being your best friend and business partner. We are discovering we just don't need you that much anymore, and the direction Trump is taking you is not for us. I will say that Trump has done more to unite Canadians than any Canadian politician ever did.

What quite said is true fellas.
Separatists have always existed in Alberta and Quebec. The squeaky wheel gets the grease is a good way to describe what your media is telling you.
Very fringe groups. Just like the anti gun lobbyist, anti abortionists, anti police scum....very small groups.

East Timor was not a breakaway. While most of present day Indonesia was the Dutch East Indies, East Timor was a Portuguese colony. It was overwhelmingly Catholic and, so when Portugal gave independence to all its colonies, East Timor was soon invaded by Indonesia, because that's what Moslem countries always do.
It is reputed that Suharto was given the OK to invade by Henry Kissinger, during the Ford Administration. When Indonesia invaded, and began the usual Islam 'convert-or-die' genocide, Australia finally stepped in under UN sanction and saved the East Timorese from annihilation.
East Timor is struggling, but serious donations from Australia, Portugal and Japan are helping build the country into economic viability.
