I read years ago that he was right handed and suffered a severe injury, and couldn't throw with that arm. So he started throwing with his left arm and got very good with it. He was a favorite of mine when I was a mere lad...RIP.

I actually saw him pitch (Tiger Stadium) for the Tiger's in 1968 with my dad.

He was an ace on the mound. The 68' Detroit Tigers were amazing.

McClain is 81 and still alive. Last 30 game winner. Oddly in 1968 but Lolich was the 68 series hero with 3 World Series wins.
