Hubby and I enjoy going to several rural "rest stops" in Western WI for some outdoor summer recreation. The great spot between Hudson and Houlton is now closed but there are still a couple worth mentioning: about 3 miles south of Siren WI., 5 miles north of Baldwin, and highway 63 & 29. All have nice walking paths that allow for some privacy.

if you want some local quiet areas, the state park in Hudson has loads of walking paths along the river. it is on cty road A exit #4 north follow the park signs
