Adult Theater in Albany Area
There is still a small adult theater in a bookstore in Rensselaer / East Greenbush - just across the river from downtown Albany.
It's inside the Adult World video/bookstore (formerly RT20 News) at 275 Columbia Turnpike, Rensselaer, NY 12144-4429
$9 admission - it has 12 seats (small) but plenty of room in the front row. They also have 13 private viewing booths - a few have the frosted plexiglass that becomes clear when people on both sides push the "buddy booth" button.
The theater also has access controlled by the staff so you don't have a problem with looky-loos wandering in and out without an admission ticket.
The staff is friendly and will give anyone a quick tour if you ask them. The booths take $1/5/10/20 or you can buy $1 coupons at the front desk.
I have been there with couples on weekday afternoons as well as weekend afternoons and nights. The store is open 9am - 12pm every day.
If anyone wants to go with someone who knows the lay of the land I'd be happy to accompany you.
The staff is getting increasingly UNfriendly. The black guy who works there is always storming into the booth area and threatening the queens & trolls who hang in the shadows and leave the doors open for gay action. The booths are getting more crappy all the time w/ seat cushions torn and the sound in many booths can't be adjusted. Ever since adult world bought the place it's been going downhill. Almost NEVER see females there. I'm definitely loosing interest.
The new owners have improved the booths, painted, fixed many of the broken volume controls and channel change buttons (not all yet). Staff is much much cooler than in 2011. Just don't be a dufus and take pics or video in the theater - they will ask you to leave if you do. Booth and theater now close at 11pm to give staff time to mop/empty trash before store closes at midnight.
New theater open there - very dark - lots of fun - much bigger than the original one. But still only seats 13. It's at front of store now - old theater is still there.
